The National Black Doll Museum over 6,000 dolls with 2,700 dolls on active exhibit. You’ll see seven galleries about doll culture, its industry, dolls that changed the game, black doll manufacturers and their stories, dolls that influence children’s literature, influential dolls that impacted Christmas toy selections, abolitionist practices, and dolls that have changed the mood of young students, prisoners and corporate employees who were exposed to them in the museum’s diversity and inclusion sensitivity workshops. African Dolls are very important to the culture. You’ll see a replica of an African “Dogon” hut. There’s a room with 700+ dolls – each one unique and made by someone who has visited the museum.
