(March 12, 2020) – Today the Harvard Art Museums, Institute of Contemporary Art, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, are announcing that each will close to the public.

Boston Marathon officials say the April 20th planned run will be delayed until the fall. September 5th is being looked at as a possible new date www.baa.org

This decision was made collaboratively as a response to ensure the health and safety of our staff, our visitors and our community. The CDC has clearly communicated that one of the most effective measures for controlling the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is social distancing. Based on that recommendation, we feel it is our ethical responsibility to put the common good ahead of any one individual or institution.
